Discover What Posturology Can Bring to Your Practice

GMI Institute, a Danish training organization specializing in auriculotherapy, posturology and chromotherapy, is holding an English-language Basic Posturology Training in Iaşi, Romania, from October 21st to 24th, 2026.

What Is Posturology?

Posturology is a discipline focused on analyzing body posture to help identify where a physical or postural imbalance may originate. Rather than looking at pain or discomfort in isolation, it considers posture as a whole, since tension, misalignment or rotation in one area of the body can reflect or reinforce imbalances elsewhere. According to GMI Institute, the approach draws in part on auricular point mapping, one of the diagnostic tools used within French auriculotherapy, alongside postural testing and manual approaches to help understand how posture reflects the body’s overall balance.

The training is structured over one weekend, followed by a wrap-up evening session held via Zoom.

What the Program Covers

As described by GMI Institute, the training explores how postural imbalance can relate to a wide range of situations, including:

Physical discomfort, particularly following surgery or physical trauma such as falls, traffic accidents or improper lifting. The program explains how the body adapts posture in response to pain, which can result in muscular tension, fascia and tendon strain, or joint rotation, sometimes appearing long after the original event.

Mental and emotional strain, exploring how the coordination between the two brain hemispheres, referred to as laterality, plays a role in postural balance. The program addresses how stress and emotional overload can manifest both psychologically and physically, notably through postural rotation and misalignment.

Topics covered in the curriculum include muscle and joint discomfort, whiplash and post-concussion symptoms, headaches and migraines, repetitive strain conditions (such as elbow and wrist strain), neck and lower back discomfort, foot-related issues, as well as approaches to stress, sleep difficulties, concentration, hormonal balance, and visual or balance-related disturbances.

Protocols Taught

The posturology toolbox covered during the training includes:

  • Postural assessment tests
  • Ear point mapping and its relationship to posture
  • Custom orthotic insole fabrication
  • Eye and jaw exercises
  • Use of magnets for relaxation and assessment
  • Frequency-based approaches, with and without needle use

On the fourth day, the program also includes a dedicated session on ROC

Why This Training Is Relevant for Auriculotherapy Practitioners

Because the program integrates ear point mapping as one of its diagnostic tools, it offers auriculotherapy practitioners a way to connect postural analysis with techniques they may already use in their practice. For therapists already trained in auricular approaches, this can provide an additional framework for understanding how ear point observation relates to broader postural patterns.
